Central Fund Bill, 1950
Public bill · Government · Introduced
The Central Fund Bill, 1950 authorised the release of £6.61 million for government spending in the year ending 31 March 1950 and £26.71 million for the following year. It also allowed the Minister for Finance to borrow up to £33.32 million to support those payments, with the debt and interest charged to the Central Fund. In addition, it formally established an account for the Irish-pound equivalent of American grant aid under the 1948 economic cooperation agreement, setting out how money would be received, used and repaid or transferred. The account had to be audited and its yearly statements presented to both Houses of the Oireachtas.
