Terms of use
These terms apply to your use of VoterConnect.ie. By using the site you accept them. If you don't, please don't use the site. Last updated 22 August 2026.
What this site is
VoterConnect.ie is a free, independent service that republishes the public record of the Houses of the Oireachtas and adds summaries, topics and search on top of it. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or funded by the Houses of the Oireachtas, any political party, or any candidate. It is supported by reader subscriptions, which play no part in what is published or how it is summarised. See About this site for how it works.
This site is not the official record. The official record is published by the Houses of the Oireachtas, and where anything here differs from it, theirs is correct.
Summaries can be wrong
The summaries and topic labels on this site are editorially reviewed before publication, but they can still miss the point of an exchange, flatten a distinction, or state something a speaker did not say. Treat them as a signpost to the real text, not as a statement of what was said — every summary sits beside a link to the full text it was written from. Nothing here is legal, electoral or professional advice, and it should not be relied on for any decision without checking it against the source.
If you find a summary that misrepresents a debate or a member, please tell us and we will review it, and correct or remove it where warranted.
Content and reuse
Debate text, speaker names, division results and bill details are reproduced under the Oireachtas (Open Data) PSI Licence. That licence governs your reuse of that material, not these terms.
Everything else — the summaries, the topic taxonomy, the site's text, design and code — belongs to us. You are welcome to link to any page here, and to quote a reasonable extract with attribution and a link back. Please don't republish our summaries wholesale, or copy the site's content in bulk, without asking us first.
Accounts
You can use everything on this site without an account. If you create one, sign in with an e-mail address you control and use it yourself — sign-in links sent to your address let anyone holding them into your account, so you're responsible for what happens through it. You can sign out of every session, and permanently delete your account and everything associated with it, at any time from your account page. We may suspend or close an account that is being used to break these terms.
You must be 16 or over to create an account. That is the age at which someone can consent to their own data being processed under Irish data protection law, and an account is the only part of this site that needs consent at all — everything else can be read without one.
Comments
If you comment, you keep ownership of what you write and give us permission to publish it on this site. Everything is read before it appears and we decide what gets published; our comment policy sets out how that works. Publishing a comment is not agreement with it. We may take a comment down at any time, and you can withdraw your own.
Don't post anything you don't have the right to post, anything defamatory, or anyone's personal details. Comments are other people's words, not ours — see Liability below.
Acceptable use
Please don't:
- use the site for anything unlawful, or to harass or defame anyone;
- make automated requests at a rate that degrades the site for other people;
- try to gain access to any part of the site, its servers, or another person's account that isn't meant for you, or probe or interfere with how it runs;
- use the contact form to send spam, or to send anything you wouldn't want us to keep a record of;
- use comments to abuse anyone, to make accusations you can't stand behind, or to advertise;
- present this site's output as the official record, or as something published or endorsed by the Oireachtas.
Availability and changes
The site is provided free of charge and as it is, with no promise that it will be available, complete, current or uninterrupted. We may change, add or withdraw any part of it, including accounts and the data it holds, at any time. Where the site links out to other sites, those sites are nothing to do with us and we're not responsible for them.
Liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss arising from your use of this site or from reliance on anything published here, including a summary that turns out to be inaccurate or incomplete. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited — including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud — and if you are a consumer, nothing here affects your statutory rights.
Privacy, changes to these terms, and getting in touch
What we collect and why is set out separately in our privacy notice.
We may update these terms. The current version is always the one on this page, with the date it last changed at the top; continuing to use the site after a change means accepting the updated terms.
These terms are governed by the law of Ireland, and the Irish courts have jurisdiction over any dispute — though if you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the EU, you keep the protection of your own country's mandatory law and may bring proceedings there.
