Rent Restrictions (Amendment) Bill, 1954
Public bill · Government · Introduced
The Rent Restrictions (Amendment) Bill, 1954 would allow a District Justice to divide a controlled rent where it included charges for other services or items, making clear how much counted as rent. This power would apply from the start of the relevant 1946 rent-control rules, while cases already finally struck down would not automatically become valid. As set out on pages 2–3, affected tenants could have their applications reconsidered, and courts could delay eviction or payment orders for rent arrears and allow repayment by instalments.
