Supplies and Services (Temporary Provisions) Act, 1946 (Continuance) Bill, 1957
Public bill · Government · Introduced
The measure would keep the Supplies and Services (Temporary Provisions) Act 1946 in force until 31 December 1957, unless the Government ended it earlier by order. It would therefore preserve the existing powers under that Act for managing supplies and services for a further period. Earlier laws that had extended or amended the 1946 Act would be repealed and replaced by this continuation measure. Passed by both Houses on 28 March 1957, it mainly ensured that the temporary arrangements did not lapse while they were still considered necessary.
Formal long title
Bill entitled an Act to extend the period during which the Supplies and Services (Temporary Provisions) Act, 1946, continues in force.
