Central Fund Bill, 1958
Public bill · Government · Introduced
The Central Fund Bill, 1958 would authorise the Minister for Finance to release £8,055,637 for government spending in the year ending 31 March 1958, and a further £36,500,000 for the following financial year. It would also allow borrowing of up to £44,555,637 to provide this money, including through advances from the Bank of Ireland. Any borrowing, interest and related costs would be paid from the Central Fund. The measure matters because it provides the legal funding and borrowing authority needed to meet the State’s approved spending for those two years.
