No. 15 of 1959Presidential Elections (Temporary Provisions) Bill, 1959
Public bill · Government · Introduced
The measure made a temporary change for the 1959 presidential election, which took place alongside a referendum on a proposed constitutional amendment. Election candidates’ free-post communications could also refer to that referendum, without making them ineligible for the postal concession. It also confirmed that communications and related declarations already handled in this way were valid, helping prevent technical challenges to the election process.
