The Broadcasting Authority (Amendment) Bill, 1973 would provide RTÉ with greater access to government-backed funding for capital projects, increasing the borrowing limit from £3 million to £4 million. It would also continue, for a further two years, annual payments to RTÉ equal to the net proceeds from broadcasting licence fees, up to 31 March 1974. These measures were intended to support RTÉ’s investment and ongoing operations.
