Courts Bill, 1981

Public bill · Government · Presented

The Courts Bill, 1981 would set the maximum number of ordinary High Court judges at fourteen. An exception would allow up to fifteen while a serving High Court President or judge appointed to the Law Reform Commission remained in that judicial post. It would also remove the earlier provision on the number of High Court judges and update related references. The measure was intended to allow the courts to maintain adequate judicial capacity while accommodating a judge serving on the Law Reform Commission.
