European Communities (Amendment) Bill 1984
Public bill · Government · Presented
The European Communities (Amendment) Bill 1984 would amend Irish law to give effect to an international treaty changing the European Community treaties in relation to Greenland. The treaty, signed in Brussels on 12 March 1984, required approval by each participating country under its own constitutional procedures. It was intended to take effect on 1 January 1985 if all countries had completed approval by then; otherwise, it would begin on the first day of the month after the final approval was deposited. According to the explanatory memorandum on page 1, the Bill’s purpose is mainly to ensure that these treaty changes become part of Irish law.
