Health (Amendment) Bill, 1995

People who contracted hepatitis C through Human Immunoglobulin-Anti-D, another blood product, or a blood transfusion received in Ireland would be entitled to specified health services without charge. These would include GP and surgical care for all medical conditions, medicines and medical equipment, nursing and other existing health services, dental, eye and hearing care, hepatitis C counselling, and any further services later prescribed. Eligibility would be decided by the chief executive of the relevant health board, which could also extend the scheme to other prescribed groups. The measure would take effect on a date set by the Minister for Health.
