Proceeds of Crime Bill, 1996

The Proceeds of Crime Bill 1996 would let the High Court freeze property worth at least £10,000 suspected of being linked to crime, appoint a receiver to manage it and, after seven years, transfer it to the State. It would protect innocent owners, allow reasonable living and legal expenses, and provide compensation where property was wrongly restrained.
