Dublin Docklands Development Authority Bill 1996

The measure would establish the Dublin Docklands Development Authority to lead the area’s social, economic and physical regeneration, including new housing, jobs, training, transport, public spaces and environmental improvements. It would give the Authority powers to prepare development plans, acquire land, coordinate public and private investment, and support financial-sector services around the Custom House Docks, with government funding and borrowing available. It would replace the existing Custom House Docks authority, transfer its property, contracts and staff, and require public consultation, environmental assessment, financial reporting and safeguards against conflicts of interest.

Bill entitled an Act to make provision for the renewal of the Dublin Docklands area and for that purpose to establish a body to be known as the Dublin Docklands Development Authority, and to define its functions; to amend the Urban Renewal Act, 1986, and to provide for other matters connected with the matters aforesaid
