Chemical Weapons Bill 1997

Would ban the development, production, possession, use and transfer of chemical weapons, while controlling certain toxic chemicals that may have legitimate uses. It would allow inspections, require information and records, and create offences, penalties and seizure powers to enforce Ireland’s commitments under the international chemical weapons treaty.

Bill entitled an Act to implement the Conventionon the prohibition of the development, production, stockpiling and use of chemical weapons and on their destruction, and to provide for related matters.
