Europol Bill 1997

The Europol Bill 1997 would give legal effect in Ireland to the agreement establishing Europol, enabling Gardaí and other national authorities to share information and cooperate with European countries against terrorism, drug trafficking, people smuggling, vehicle crime and other serious international crime. It would establish an Irish national unit and send Garda liaison officers to Europol, while applying data-protection rules, allowing people to seek access to or correction of personal information, and making the Data Protection Commissioner the national watchdog.
