Arbitration (International Commercial) Bill 1997
Public bill · Government · Presented
The Bill would bring international commercial arbitration in Ireland into line with the UN’s widely used rules, covering arbitrator appointments, court support, evidence, costs, interest, enforcement and limited challenges to awards. It would also update interest rules for other arbitrations and ensure arbitration agreements do not prevent people using the District Court’s Small Claims Procedure.
Formal long title
Bill entitled an Act to enable effect to be given in the State to the UNCITRAL model law on international commercial arbitration (as adopted by the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law on 21 June 1985) and to amend the Arbitration Act, 1954, and to make further and better provision in respect of arbitrations.
