Turf Development Bill 1997

Bord na Móna would be reorganised as a public company, with its assets, debts, contracts, staff and existing functions transferred to it, while the existing body would be dissolved. The company could create subsidiaries to run parts of the business, but the State would retain majority ownership and control over key decisions, borrowing and appointments. Staff protections, public reporting, environmental and archaeological safeguards, and continuity of existing contracts and legal cases would also be provided.

Bill entitled an Act to provide for the formation and registration under the Companies Acts, 1963 to 1990, of a public company to carry on the business of Bord na Móna, to provide for the dissolution of Bord na Móna and to provide for related matters
