Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands (Powers and Functions) Bill 1997

The measure would give the Minister clearer powers to manage and develop specified inland waterways, temporarily close them when necessary, support ferry vessels and services to inhabited offshore islands, and acquire or manage related property. It would also allow the Minister to fund others carrying out these functions and extend heritage-building protections to designated buildings owned by public authorities.
