Courts Service (No. 2) Bill 1997

Would establish an independent Courts Service to manage court administration, buildings and facilities, support judges, and provide information and services to court users. It would transfer relevant staff, property and responsibilities from government departments, while protecting judges’ independence and creating oversight through a governing board, chief executive, strategic plans and annual reports.
