Tribunals of Inquiry (Evidence) (Amendment) Bill 1997

The legislation would strengthen tribunals of inquiry by giving people who provide documents the same legal protections as witnesses, and allowing the High Court to enforce tribunal orders when they are ignored. It would also let a tribunal order people who fail to cooperate or knowingly give false or misleading information to pay some legal costs incurred by other participants or by the tribunal.
