Prohibition of Ticket Touts Bill, 1998

The Bill would make it a criminal offence to sell, offer or advertise tickets for sporting, musical or theatrical events attracting more than 500 people at more than the organiser’s stated price. Gardaí could arrest suspected touts and seize their tickets; fines of up to £1,000 and/or six months’ imprisonment would apply, while authorised charity and community fundraising sales would be exempt.
