Statute of Limitations (Amendment) Bill 1998

Would extend the time limit for civil actions arising from sexual abuse suffered in childhood where psychological injury substantially affected a person’s ability to decide to sue. It would apply to existing and pending cases, while preserving courts’ power to dismiss claims where delay makes that necessary for justice.
