The proposal would clarify the rights of people who jointly hold shares in, or jointly borrow from, a building society. Unless a legal agreement or court order says otherwise, each person would receive notices and accounts, be named in society records, share voting and membership rights, and be treated equally; joint borrowers would receive equivalent protections.
