Broadcasting (Major Events Television Coverage) Bill, 1999

Would require major events designated by the Minister to be shown free on television with near-universal coverage, live or recorded and in full or in part, as specified. Broadcasters could not use exclusive rights to prevent this, while organisers, broadcasters and the public would be consulted and court remedies would be available for breaches.
