Horse and Greyhound Racing (Betting Charges and Levies) Bill 1999

Sets new levies and charges on bookmakers, betting offices and registered betting premises to help fund horse and greyhound racing, including a levy of up to £1,000 on thoroughbred foals to support breeders. It also regulates betting offices at greyhound tracks, strengthens enforcement powers and penalties, and extends permitted race-day opening hours for betting and alcohol sales.
