Wildlife (Amendment) Bill 1999

Public bill · Government · Presented

Would substantially strengthen Ireland’s wildlife laws by creating protected natural heritage areas, improving protection for habitats, plants, birds and animals, and giving the Minister greater control over hunting, wildlife dealers and commercial shooting. It would also regulate international trade in endangered species, restrict damaging activities and invasive species, and give enforcement officers wider powers to inspect land, seize items and investigate offences. Stronger penalties and restoration requirements would make the protections more effective.

Formal long title
