Tobacco (Health Promotion and Protection) (Amendment) Bill, 1999

The Bill would ban selling tobacco to anyone under 18, including through vending machines or to someone buying on a young person’s behalf. Retailers would have to display warnings about addiction, health risks and age checks; repeat offences could bring higher fines, imprisonment or community service, with Gardaí and health-board officers able to prosecute.
