The Bill would update the proceeds-of-crime rules by allowing the Criminal Assets Bureau to make applications, clarifying how seized or restricted property is treated, and allowing frozen assets to be used for taxes and court-ordered payments. It would also broaden access to essential living expenses, simplify some evidence procedures, and protect people from having compelled financial information used against them in criminal cases.
