Road Traffic (Joyriding) Bill 2000

The bill would create offences for supplying or offering a vehicle to anyone under 16 where it might be driven in public, and for organising, directing or taking part in unlawfully taking a vehicle for dangerous driving. Convictions could bring fines, prison terms of up to seven years and at least five years’ disqualification from driving.

Bill entitled an Act to provide for the offences of supplying or offering to supply a vehicle to an under-age driver and of organising, directing or participation in the unlawful taking of a mechanically propelled vehicle for the purposes of dangerous driving in a public place, for that purpose to extend the Road Traffic Acts, 1961 to 1995, and to provide for related matters
