Health (Miscellaneous Provisions) (No. 2) Bill 2000

People aged 70 and over would gain full access to health services, while the rules for supplying and paying for prescribed medicines, medical equipment and appliances through pharmacies and other approved providers would be updated. Selling tobacco products to anyone under 18, including through vending machines, would be an offence, and nursing-home payments and standards could be tailored to different types of homes, with clearer applications, reviews and appeals. Health boards would also have to report annually to the Oireachtas on suicide-prevention measures.
