Courts Bill 2000

The Courts Bill 2000 would change the qualifications and appointment procedures for senior judges, the Attorney General and Master of the High Court, including allowing solicitors to become Attorney General and requiring tax compliance. It would also require the Government to refer proposed judicial appointments—and appointments of retired or impeached judges to public roles—to an Oireachtas committee, while allowing certain solicitors to receive senior barrister status.
