Electoral (Control of Donations) Bill 2001

Would restrict political donations to Irish citizens ordinarily resident in Ireland, with each individual limited to £1,000 a year to a party or related candidates. Donations over £500 would have to be disclosed, and prohibited donations returned to the Public Offices Commission; breaches could result in fines or imprisonment.
