Sustainable Energy Bill 2001

The Sustainable Energy Bill 2001 would establish the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland, replacing the existing Irish Energy Centre with a statutory body generally known as Sustainable Energy Ireland. Its role would be to promote energy efficiency, renewable energy and environmentally and economically sustainable energy production and use, advise Ministers, support research and programmes, and help reduce energy-related environmental harm. It would also set rules for the Authority’s board, staff, funding, reporting, accountability and oversight by the Minister and the Oireachtas.
