European Communities and Swiss Confederation Bill 2001

The European Communities and Swiss Confederation Bill 2001 would give Irish legal effect to seven agreements between the European Union, its member states and Switzerland. They cover movement of people, air and road transport, agricultural trade, product standards, public contracts, and scientific and technological cooperation. It would also allow future decisions under these agreements to apply in Ireland and adapt existing EU-related rules for Switzerland.

Bill entitled an Act to give the force of law to the Agreement between the European Community and its Member States of the one part and the Swiss Confederation of the other, on the Free Movement of Persons done at Luxembourg on the 21st day of June, 1999, and to certain agreements between the European Community and the Swiss Confederation and an agreement between the European Communities and the Swiss Confederation and for that purpose to amend the European Communities Act, 1972, and to provide for related matters
