Housing (Miscellaneous Provisions) Bill 2001

Public bill · Private Member · Introduced

The Housing (Miscellaneous Provisions) Bill 2001 would give local authorities stronger powers to remove groups of temporary dwellings, including caravans, placed without permission on public land, especially where they obstruct or damage amenities. It would let private landowners seek a quicker court order requiring occupiers to leave, remove the dwellings and stop harassing the owner, while making it an offence to remain after being asked to leave. The Bill would also allow certain removals by local authorities, the Gardaí or owners without compensation for damage caused despite reasonable care.

Formal long title

Bill entitled an Act to amend and extend the Housing Acts, 1966 to 1997 to make provision in relation to control of the use of certain lands and property
