Air Navigation and Transport (Indemnities) Bill 2001

Following the withdrawal of insurance covering war and terrorism risks after 24 September 2001, the Minister for Public Enterprise could temporarily guarantee specified risks for Irish-licensed airlines, commercial airports and essential aviation service providers such as refuelling, maintenance and security companies. Guarantees would last up to 31 days at a time, could carry charges, and would be subject to an overall State liability limit of €9 billion; the scheme would end after 12 months unless extended by the Oireachtas.
