Tribunals of Inquiry (Evidence) (Amendment) Bill 2002
Public bill · Government · Presented
Would protect pending criminal trials by allowing tribunals to hold relevant hearings in private and enabling the High Court to delay publication of parts of a report. It would also allow tribunals to appoint extra or reserve members and investigators, who could require information, documents and answers, while protecting people from having statements made to investigators used against them in criminal cases; penalties for obstruction or non-cooperation would increase.
Formal long title
