Houses of the Oireachtas Commission Bill 2002

The bill would create an independent Houses of the Oireachtas Commission to manage Parliament’s funding, staff, administration and services, reducing the Minister for Finance’s day-to-day control. It would set rules for the Commission’s membership, budgets, reporting, accounts and oversight, while keeping Oireachtas staff as civil servants and making the Commission subject to freedom-of-information rules.
