Defence (Amendment) Bill 2002

The Defence (Amendment) Bill 2002 would allow Irish Defence Forces contingents to serve abroad with an EU Rapid Reaction Force, but only after Dáil Éireann approval. It would also make newly appointed or enlisted personnel, and existing members who agree in writing, liable for such overseas service.
Formal long title
Bill entitled an Act to authorise, subject to the previous approval of Dáil Éireann in certain circumstances, the despatch of contingents of the permanent Defence Force for service outside the State with the Rapid Reaction Force established by the Laws of the European Union, to extend the area of service of certain members of the Permanent Defence Force, and for those purposes to amend the Defence Act, 1954, in certain respects and to provide for other related matters
