Electricity Regulation (Amendment) Bill 2003

The measure would place Ireland’s electrical contracting sector under the oversight of the Commission for Electricity Regulation, with electricians, contractors and certain employers required to register annually with an approved supervisory body and follow safety standards. It would allow inspections, require proof of compliant work before the ESB connected premises to electricity, and create offences for unauthorised work, with fines or imprisonment for serious breaches.
