National Transport Authority Bill 2003

The proposal would replace the National Roads Authority and National Rail Procurement Agency with one National Transport Authority covering roads and public transport. It would coordinate planning, rank major projects, help arrange funding, advise on nearby development, and monitor project costs and progress, with responsibility for developing and delivering transport infrastructure nationwide. A 10-member board, including the chief executive and an elected staff representative, would oversee the Authority, with most members nominated by the Minister and approved by the Dáil.
