Human Reproduction Bill 2003

The Human Reproduction Bill 2003 would make it a criminal offence to create a human embryo by cloning, and to create embryos for research where childbirth is not intended. Assisted fertility treatment would remain allowed where the aim is a live birth; breaches could carry up to 10 years’ imprisonment, a fine, or both.
