Redundancy Payments Bill 2003
Public bill · Government · Presented
The proposal would increase statutory redundancy payments to two weeks’ pay for each year worked, plus an extra week, while recognising some overseas service and breaks in employment when calculating entitlements. It would simplify applications, clarify who qualifies, allow workers at insolvent companies to claim unpaid notice without going to a tribunal, and penalise fraud. The changes would give greater financial protection to redundant workers and make the scheme easier to administer.
