Protection of Employees (Fixed-Term Work) Bill 2003

Would require fixed-term employees to receive treatment no less favourable than comparable permanent staff, unless objectively justified, and limit repeated fixed-term contracts to prevent abuse. Employers would have to explain contract renewals in writing, advertise permanent vacancies and provide access to training, with complaints enforceable through compensation of up to two years’ pay.
