Taxi Regulation Bill 2003

Would establish an independent Commission for Taxi Regulation to oversee taxis and other small public-service vehicles, with a focus on safety, quality, driver standards and consumer service. It would create new licensing and enforcement rules, allow maximum taxi fares to be set, provide appeals and penalties, and establish an advisory council representing relevant interests.

Bill entitled an Act to make provision for the establishment of a body to be known as the Commission for Taxi Regulation, or, in the Irish language, An Coimisiún um Rialáil Tacsaithe, to define its functions, to provide for the establishment of an advisory council to be known as the Advisory Council to the Commission for Taxi Regulation, or, in the Irish language, An Chomhairle don Choimisiún um Rialáil Tacsaithe, to define its functions, to amend the Road Traffic Acts 1961 to 2002 and to provide for connected matters
