Fur Farming (Prohibition) Bill 2004

The bill would make it an offence to keep animals mainly or solely to slaughter them for their fur, or to breed animals for that purpose, including selling them on for slaughter. It would also cover people who knowingly allow this activity, including landowners, and could apply to companies and their officers. A conviction could lead to a fine of up to €30,000, forfeiture and disposal of the animals, and authorised inspections or entry to premises to enforce the measure.
