Committees of the Houses of the Oireachtas (Compellability, Privileges and Immunities of Witnesses) (Amendment) Bill 2004
Public bill · Government · Presented
The measure would allow Oireachtas committees investigating a judge’s conduct or ability to do their job to require that judge to attend, answer questions and provide relevant documents—powers normally unavailable against judges. It would apply to inquiries arising under the Constitution or existing court laws, including inquiries set up before or after the measure becomes law and concerning conduct or capacity from before or after that date. No financial cost is expected.
Formal long title
Bill entitled an Act to amend the Committees of the Houses of the Oireachtas (Compellability, Privileges and Immunities of Witnesses) Act 1997 and to provide for related matters
