Social Welfare Bill 2004
Public bill · Government · Presented
From January 2005, social welfare payments—including pensions, unemployment support, disability payments, carers’ allowances and one-parent family payments—would increase, while Family Income Supplement income limits would rise for families with children. Maternity Benefit would increase from 70% to 75% of eligible earnings, and the income limit for paying social insurance contributions would rise from €42,160 to €44,180. Higher income thresholds for the health levy would also mean some lower-paid workers would no longer have to pay it.
