Parental Leave (Amendment) Bill 2004
Public bill · Government · Presented
Parents and people acting as parents would gain wider access to unpaid parental leave: the child’s age limit would rise from five to eight, or to 16 for a child with a disability, and adopting parents would be covered. Employees could take the 14 weeks in blocks of at least six weeks, pause or postpone leave if illness prevents them caring for the child, and return to the same or an equivalent job on no less favourable terms. The measures would also protect workers from punishment or unfair treatment for taking parental or emergency family leave.
Formal long title
