British-Irish Agreement (Amendment) Bill 2005
Public bill · Government · Presented
The Bill would remove doubt about the legal protections applying to the North/South Implementation Bodies when they own or lease land subject to ground rent. It confirms that tenants generally cannot buy the freehold of such property, while preserving the existing exception for certain houses, where the public authority can prevent the sale if the public interest requires it. It would not affect notices, applications, arbitrations or court appeals already started before the Act came into force.
Formal long title
Bill entitled an Act to amend the British-Irish Agreement Act 1999 and to provide for related matters
