Prohibition of Ticket Touts Bill 2005

The Bill would make it a criminal offence to advertise, offer or sell tickets for sporting, musical or theatrical events expected to attract more than 500 people at more than the official price printed on the ticket. Gardaí could arrest suspected touts and confiscate their tickets; convictions could lead to a fine of up to €3,000, up to six months in prison, or both. Registered charities and voluntary or community organisations could charge more when the event organiser gives them written permission.
